OUR REVIEW METHOD

Every score should reveal its map.

We separate desk research from hands-on play, document limitations, and assess six practical questions instead of rewarding spectacle alone.

01

Document

We record platform, model, age rating, update history, currencies, advertised features, and the developer’s stated mechanics.

02

Explore

Hands-on testing is labelled when completed. Otherwise, desk reviews rely on clearly identified official documentation.

03

Score in context

The final number is a concise editorial summary—not a scientific measurement, odds statement, or promise of value.

SIX QUESTIONS

The complete rubric.

Each category is considered on a ten-point editorial scale and balanced against the experience the game is trying to offer.

01

System clarity

Can a player understand why an action worked or failed?

02

Mobile feel

Are controls, text, sessions, and interfaces suited to a small screen?

03

Strategy depth

Do meaningful choices survive beyond the opening hours?

04

Pricing clarity

Are currencies, passes, energy, and limits understandable before spending?

05

Interruption pressure

How often do prompts, events, timers, or notifications break the intended flow?

06

Worldcraft

Do story, art, and setting meaningfully support the systems?

Corrections and independence

Emberwing does not accept payment for rankings. Review copies or material relationships should be disclosed. We correct factual errors and distinguish opinion from documented product details.
